ITALY!

Since i was a kid, i always love everything about Italy. It is a country with a thoundsand history and cultures. Besides of that, i really like foods that consists of cheeses and Italy is a heaven for that.

The capital city of Italy is Rome and destinations for holiday in Rome are so many and I think it will be uncountable. I hope when i become adult and have my own money, i can visit all of places in Rome and enjoy every moment there. Right now, i will give you some informations about several places in Rome, Italy. Happy Reading !

1.    Colosseum

The Colosseum, originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is a large amphitheatre in the city of Rome. The construction of the Colosseum started around 70–72 AD and was finished in 80 AD. It was 156 metres wide, 189 metres long and 57 metres tall. It is the biggest amphitheatre built by the Roman Empire. It was used for gladiatorial contests, and other shows like animal hunts, in which animals would hunt and eat prisoners; or in which gladiators would fight against animals. There were also executions of prisoners, plays, and battle scenes; sometimes it was filled with water to fight sea battles. The people of Rome could go into the Colosseum without any costs; it was free.

In the Middle Ages, it was no longer used for performances. It was then used as housing, workshops, a Christian shrine, and as a supply of building stones.

It is now a ruin because of earthquakes. The Colosseum is a symbol of the Roman Empire. It is one of Rome's most popular tourist attractions. On Good Fridays, the Pope leads a torch lit "Way of the Cross" procession around the various levels of the amphitheatre.

2.    Pantheon

Pantheon meaning "[temple] of every god") is a former Roman temple, now a church, in Rome, Italy.
The Pantheon is the best preserved building from ancient Rome and was completed in c. 125 CE in the reign of Hadrian.

The most fascinating part of the Pantheon is its giant dome, with its famous hole in the top (The eye of the Pantheon, or oculus). The dome was the largest in the world for 1300 years and until today it remains the largest unsupported dome in the world! The diameter of the dome is 43.30 meters or 142ft

3.    Vatican Museums

The Vatican Museums (Italian: Musei Vaticani) are the museums of the Vatican City and are located within the city's boundaries. They display works from the immense collection built up by the Popes throughout the centuries including some of the most renowned classical sculptures and most important masterpieces of Renaissance art in the world.

There are 54 galleries, or sale, in total, with the Sistine Chapel, notably, being the very last sala/room within the Museum. It is one of the largest museums in the world.

4. Piazza Navona

Piazza Navona is a piazza in RomeItaly. It is built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian, built in 1st century AD, and follows the form of the open space of the stadium. The ancient Romans went there to watch the agones ("games"), and hence it was known as "Circus Agonalis" ("competition arena"). It is believed that over time the name changed to in avone to navone and eventually to navona.

It was mainly used for festivals and sporting events. The buildings surrounding the square stand where the spectators once sat. Today, the square features no less than three magnificent fountains and is an immensely popular place to sip a cappuccino, shop, and watch street performers.

There are many places in Rome that i want to visit. What i wrote above are just an example to give you some description how beautiful the Rome is.

I said that i love cheese, right? That's why i chose this city. Rome is also known for its pizza. The Pizza is a flatbread generally topped with tomato sauce and cheese and baked in an oven. It is commonly topped with a selection of meats, vegetables and condiments. Nowadays, pizza is one of the most popular food in the world!

The restaurants or bakeries that sell pizza and other breads in Rome are :

  • Forno de Campo de' Fiori
  • Suppli Pizzeria Blb
  • Forno Feliziani
  • Bonci Pizzarium
  • Pizzeria Loffredo
  • etc.

Do you drool? Well, i am. I can't imagine how delicous those pizzas are. Escpecially for its mozzarella. But, i think that it's quite expensive and i have to save my money for that.

That's all from me for this time. I hope that one day i can make this happen and i'll write my experience during in Italy one day in this blog :D
See you in some other times, folks!

This is my dream place, what's yours?

WILDLIFE!

SUGAR GLIDER

" Saving one animal won't change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal."
-Vicki Davis-

What is Sugar Glider ?
The sugar glider ( Petaurus breviceps) is a small, omnivorous, and a nocturnal gliding animal. They are able to glide trough the air, much like a flying squirrel.

Where Do Sugar Gliders Live In The Wild?
-sugar glider natural range-
Sugar gliders are found in the forests of Australia and New Guinea. In fact, they’re the only species endemic to both countries.
(‘Endemic’ means they are only found in a particular region.)
Sugar gliders are found all along the eastern side of Australia, from Tasmania up to northern Queensland, also in parts of the Northern Territory, several islands, and throughout New Guinea.
What are they like?
  • The sugar glider looks like a small squirrel. It has short grey fur, not unlike that of a koala. Its soft underside fur is a creamy-white.
  • The sugar glider has black rings around its big, black eyes, and a black stripe running down the centre of its face and ending just above its nose.
  • This black stripe continues down the back of the sugar glider and ends before its wide, rather bushy grey tail.
  • The sugar glider has 5 digits on each foot. Its hind feet each have an opposable toe, allowing the sugar glider to grip onto branches.
  • The sugar glider’s tail is long and flat and helps the animal to balance and steer while it is gliding. The tail is also partially prehensile (able to grip) and is used to carry leaves into its nest.

How do they behave?
i believe i can fly~~

The animal launches itself from a tree, spreading its limbs to expose the gliding membranes. This creates an aerofoil enabling them to glide 50 metres or more. Gliding provides minimal contact with ground predators. Glinding may also allow sugar gliders to decrease their energy consumption when searching for food.
Like all arboreal, nocturnal marsupials, sugar gliders are active at night, and shelter in tree hollows lined with leafy twigs during the day.

What do they eat?

Gumtrees provide and ideal habitat for sugar gliders

Sugar gliders are omnivores, which means that their diet consists of plants and animals. They have a varied diet, which changes according to the season.
Known (and named) for their liking of sweet foods, sugar gliders eat gum, sap and nectar from trees and plants. In the summer, insects form the main part of their diet.
Sugar gliders are opportunistic feeders, and will also eat lizards and small birds. Their predation of the endangered swift parrot’s nestlings is a threat to the bird’s survival.

How do they re-product?

Sugar gliders breed throughout the year. The gestation period is between 2 and 3 weeks, and they have litters of 1 to 3 young.
At birth, the ‘joeys’ (baby sugar gliders) are extremely undeveloped. The tiny, hairless joeys crawl through the mother’s fur and into her forward-opening pouch. Here they will stay, feeding on the mother’s milk, for another 2 months.
Male sugar gliders help to look after their young, who will leave the nest around 110 days after being born.
Do sugar gliders have any predators?
The nocturnal sugar glider is a natural prey item for owls. Other animals which have been known to take sugar gliders are monitor lizards, quolls, and several bird and snake speciesFeral cats will also prey on sugar gliders.
Sugar Gliders As Pets
Due to its endearing looks, the sugar glider is sought-after as a pet. They are popular in the USA, and are permitted in all states other than California, Hawaii and Alaska. In Australia, they can only be kept as pets in in Victoria, South Australia, and the Northern Territory
Are Sugar Gliders Endangered?
Sugar gliders are not endangered, and are ranked by the IUCN as being of ‘Least Concern’.
Colonies
  • Sugar gliders are usually social animals, living in small colonies or family groups, which can number up to seven adults and their young.
  • The group’s territory can cover up to 2.5 acres, and is scent marked by the dominant males of the group, of which there are usually two.
  • Sugar gliders use a wide range of squeaks, hisses and barks – as well as scent markings – to communicate with each other

Let's Peek!

MY NEVER-TO-BE-FORGOTTEN EXPERIENCE

Bonjour, gorgeous! I'm back xD. Right now, I will share to you about my unforgettable experience. So, it was happened when i was at 9 grade. My family and I went to Toraja. Toraja is located in Makassar, South Sulawesi. We chose to go there because we wanted to visit my grandma. It is my hometown. My family and I sometimes spent our holiday there. Especially when it was school holiday or Christmast. So, follow my story trip to Toraja!!!

When I arrived in Makassar, I met my grandma at Sultan Hasanuddin  that already waiting for us. I miss my grandma so much :'(. After that, we were looking for food because my stomach was growling :') and since i really miss the foods in Makassar.

We got Ikan Bakar Makassar and Coto Makassar. Both of them are typical cuisines from Makassar.

ikan bakar : grilled fish served with 'sambal belimbing sayur',

coto makassar : The food is made from offal (entrails) veal braised in a long time. Offal and beef stew is then sliced and seasoned with herbs formulated specifically. Coto was served in a bowl and eaten with a 'ketupat' ( rhombus ) and 'burasa'.

I glad that that foods are avaiable in Bandung. You can find them in Sop Konro Marannu, R.E Martadinata Street No.189, Bandung. ( sorry for the advertisement hehe). But, seriously, it tasted really goodd.xx

back to the topic

After i fulfilled my stomach, we started our journey to Toraja. You know what? Trip to Toraja took 7-8 hours and it was sooooo long for God's sake :"). But it's okay cause i know that everything would be interesting after we arrived there. Along our way, my mom talked everything to my grandma. From how our daily routines in Bandung, my father's work, education, gossip, anddd many more. You want to know what i did? Yes, i was just like listen to my Ipod ( thank God i have it) and answered to several question from my mom and my grandma. I had a headache because of the travel sickness and winding road.

- my grandma's house from afar-

8 hours was over and we arrived at Toraja!!!! ( my grandma's house too)
We got a place here in the middle of the night and that was so cold bruhh. I felt like i was in Korea ( do you know when it's a winter and there's smoke come from your mouth like a scene of Korean Drama) It is called condensation in science.

^ that's exactly me, sorry im so bopung or something

After that, i got into my grandma's comfy home. Ohh damn i miss that house. But, i was so sleepy and i slept.

In the next morning, i woke up with a brand new smile and the sunshine illuminated the room.( very different in town, so sad) I decided to make a glass of milk and sit at the terrace. The scenery was very beautiful bcs there are some 'Rumah Tongkonan' in front of me.

Rumah Tongkonan, stunning right?
But don't think Rumah Tongkonan as a supernatural kind of thing. It actually built to respect the ancestors. Besides of that, it can used for an icon for Makassar, escpecially Toraja.

The very special thing about my trip was visited "Yesus Memberkati" statue in Makale, Toraja. My grandma, my sister, and I were prayed there and hoped that our life will get better and better. That was so emotional and i felt so grateful that i could get there and raised my prayers. The statue has a height of 30 meter and 20 meter jib. Uniquely, the statue has a slope of 20 degrees.

-"Yesus Memberkati" statue-

-hehe-

-the panorama scene from the top-

Actually, my mother backed home earlier than us. So, there were me and my sister and we had to back to Bandung by ourselves. It was the first time that we boarded the plane together without our parents. The funny moment when we couldn't find our Terminal when the plane was about to leave. We were so confused and walked from one terminal to another. It was tiring, really. We just bought a Roti Boy and ate it in the plane. We had have turbulence and we're scared to death lol. We were arm in arm and prayed, but we're still laugh too ( there's something wrong with us ). But, Thank God, we could arrive in Husein Sastranegara International Airport, safely.

The holiday gave me a lot of lessons and experience that i haven't done before. The holiday season is also a perfect time to reflect on our blessings and seek out ways to make life better for those around us.

I think that's all from me now, cause if i keep writing this, this could be an autobiography. So, don't miss me too much, i'll be back asap. Farewell, gorgeous! xx
